Elastic mooring lines – a favorite among boat owners!
Elastic mooring lines are a type of line with built-in shock absorption, eliminating the need to purchase a separate shock absorber for your mooring line. In addition, you avoid the noise that steel springs in traditional ropes often cause. Our elastic mooring lines are made of 60% polyester and 40% elastic material, and they are manufactured in Sweden.
How does an elastic mooring line work?
In windy conditions, the elastic mooring line will stretch like a rubber band, effectively reducing jerks and pulls from the boat. This helps to protect the boat from the potential damage that strong jerks can cause, which in the worst case can lead to serious damage. Following the recommended rope thicknesses ensures optimal strength. In most cases, the rope will handle more force than the boat itself.
Three different variants
We have three different variants of elastic mooring lines: Storm, StormX, and Dockline.
Storm, a traditional 3-strand model, has been named best in test several times.
StormX, a further development of Storm, combines a braided outer sheath with a 3-strand core design.
Dockline, ideal for larger boats, is similar to StormX with its braided sheath but differs in that it has a nylon core instead of a 3-ply polyester core.
